it's just waiting for you
( at this point in rory's life, the sound of the TARDIS landing doesn't even phase him, aside from causing him to take a quick look around to make sure the doctor isn't about to land it on the coffee table for a second time — when he makes out the outline of the police box on the floor, he goes back to what he had been doing, which is: reading a magazine (one of those medical ones that talk about medical techniques and discuss different treatments, because he is, in fact, that boring) and eating a sandwich.
(the sandwich is also boring).
when the TARDIS door bursts open, rory preempts anything the doctor is about to shout with: )
Amy's at her parents for the weekend. It's just me. ( there's no hidden meaning or emotion in this statement; rory just assumes that, at best, the doctor comes here for them both, and will want to try again later. )

( when he hears the sounds from downstairs, rory's first impulse is to ignore it and go back to sleep. it's early afternoon but he had pulled a double shift the day before, hadn't gotten home until past midnight, and rory is tired.
except amy's not due back home until tonight — he'd woken up just long enough this morning to confirm that — and god knows who it could be otherwise. maybe he should care more about potential burglars. although the odds are better it's some sort of alien. or one sort of alien.
with a sigh rory rolls out of bed, groping for his robe and pulling it on. expecting the doctor, he heads downstairs, hoping he hasn't ruined the dishwasher again.
it is not quite the doctor he finds. )

The World Meeting is set over a few days, obstinately in order to give each major topic enough time to be discussed; actually because the nations are so prone to distraction that only by giving them the better part of a week will there be a chance that anything actually does get discussed. Today's meeting is over, Hungary is tired of hotel food, and so she's ventured out to an American market—sorry, supermarket. Wow. What would you even do with an aisle full of cereal? There are about eight brands of milk! Is there even a difference? Her plan of finding a snack is quickly falling by the wayside as she's getting more and more trapped in the world of I Guess They've Never Had Food Shortages, Ever. And wow, do they not stock Paprika flavour crisps anywhere?
one of them will be me, watching you run
( to her slight- okay, great- surprise, when hungary peers into the music room, austria isn't there. it's not that she was looking for him, just wandering around the house, but considering that she was mostly convinced he slept in there too…
she crossed the room slowly, feeling like she was trespassing. which was dumb. after all, they were… sort of… unified now, so shouldn't it technically be her conservatory too? her piano too?
yeah, didn't feel like it at all. not even slightly.
hungary cautiously pressed down on one of the piano keys, then another, then a third, dah-deh-do, not really playing anything since she didn't really know how. )
